The Monticello Utah Temple
The Monticello Utah Temple was the first of the new generation of smaller temples as conceived by President Gordon B. Hinckley. Once the smallest temple of the Church, the temple was expanded in 2002, adding an additional 4,225 square feet to include a second ordinance room and sealing room. The Angel Moroni statue that graces the spire is different than any previous temple's, in that it depicts the ancient prophet in his youth. Sculpted by LaVar Wallgren, the fiberglass statue stands 6-feet tall and is white, while previous statues were finished with a gold leaf and stood 12-feet tall.
